Sometimes with life happening, I wonder if trials will ever stop. If hard times will ever be done being hard. If life will be good again. Perhaps you have wondered these things as well… If…. What if this or what if that?
Recently, I got out of the hospital after being an inpatient for one and a half months for severe major depression. Life is not easy to get through when all you really care about is sleeping or when all you really want to do is die. But our Heavenly Father does love us. God is there for us. He is there to help us through our hardest moments in life. He is there.
Now to talk about the word if…
I have allowed this word to overtake me in my life sometimes… what if I wasn’t supposed to do what I just did? If only I would have done this… If only I could be better…Satan is the author of the word if. He uses it to plant seeds of doubt in each of our minds. In fact He even used that word numerous times while tempting the Savior while the Savior was fasting for forty days and nights. This is how the passage goes in the New Testament in Matthew chapter 4:
1 Then was Jesus a up of the Spirit into the wilderness b bec of the devil.
2 And when he had ab days and forty nights, c was afterward an hungred.
3 And when the a came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made b.
4 But he answered and said, It is written, a shall not b byc alone, but by every d that proceedeth out of thee of God.
5 a the devil taketh him up into the b city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
6 a saith unto him, b thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not athe Lord thy God.
8 a, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the b of the world, and the glory of them;
9 a saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, a: for it is written, Thou shalt b the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.”
Satan ultimately has no power over us. We have more power than He does or ever will. We can cast Him away with the power of light that is inside each of us. That power of light comes from Christ. Christ is the one who we can look to when we are struggling. He is the one who can really help us, even when it seems like nobody can.
What is causing you heartache in your life right now? What is causing you pain? Do you believe Christ can heal you? That He can lift you higher? Do you feel His light inside you?
