It Takes an Act of Faith

There have been times in my life when I have felt encompassed in darkness.  I have also reached the point where I have wanted and even tried to end my life… but somehow, I am still here.  I am still needed, as are you.  You are needed.  The Lord needs YOU on HIS side.

Trials

"No pain that we suffer, no trial that we experience is wasted...All that we suffer and all that we endure, especially when we endure it patiently, builds up our characters, souls, and makes us more tender and charitable...It is through sorrow and suffering, toil and tribulation, that we gain the education that we come here to acquire." -Orson F. Whitney

Each of us will experience some of these trials during our lives…The challenges we face today are in their own way similar to those challenges from the past.

The Savior is there to help.  When we come to Him, He heals us and helps us to endure our trials.

Making Friends

0

I think that a huge part about making friends is being a friend to yourself.  Sometimes this is not a very easy thing to do?  But how can we love others if we do not first feel love ourselves?

The two great commandments are to love God with all your heart and to love your neighbor as yourself.  In these two commandments there are three parties that require loving:  yourself, God, and your neighbor…If you had to put these in order of importance to love, what would it be?

It would be 1.  Love God 2.  Love yourself and 3.  Love your neighbor

Part of making friends is being a friend to yourself.  Happiness comes one step at a time, and it does include love.

After All We Can Do…

Forgiven-Greg-Olsen-

Christ is there to help us and we are saved by Him, by His grace, after all we can do. That implies action on our part. It is important for us to act and to also believe in Christ that He can save us. I love this scripture from the Book of Mormon from 2 Nephi 25:23, which states:

“We labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do.”

How wonderful!  We are saved after all we can do.  We do our part and the Lord makes up the rest.  He is there for us.  He will make up our shortcomings.  I love Him so very much.  I have felt Him make up my shortcomings and my weaknesses as I do all that I can to make them better myself.  But I know I could never do it without Him.

Suffering in Silence

easter he is risen greg olsen

Do you ever feel like you are suffering in silence? Has a loved one just died and no one really seems to understand? Have you just not been able to be happy lately? Or perhaps no one really seems to be your friend…

Recently, I have felt this way. That is I have felt that I am suffering in silence. I don’t want people to know how I am really doing. I am supposed to be happy, right? Today I went to the pharmacy to pick up some medicines that I sent a prescription request to my psychiatrist, but they denied the refill… I just came home and cried. I have an appointment on the third, which really isn’t that far away, but it is that much longer of me not feeling up to par and having to ‘act’ my way through. Good thing I took acting classes in college…

But honestly, we do not need to suffer in silence. I have felt the love of God. He will help and direct us. He sent His Son to die for us not only to forgive us of our sins but to heal us from our hurt and pain. He loves us. He is truly there for us.

This movie has been more than inspiring to me. I hope you also enjoy. There are still happy moments in life. I know that God lives and that He is there for us so that we do not need to suffer in silence.

Crying…

God knows what He wants us to be… sometimes we have tears on our side.
