It Takes an Act of Faith

There have been times in my life when I have felt encompassed in darkness.  I have also reached the point where I have wanted and even tried to end my life… but somehow, I am still here.  I am still needed, as are you.  You are needed.  The Lord needs YOU on HIS side.

Who do you want to become?

I thought this was a very good question:  Who do you want to become?  As I was studying this morning, I came across this question in the Ensign magazine.  It was in this quote by Gary E Stevenson:

“Remember, what you do, where you go, and what you see will shape who you become.  Who do you want to become?”

If we ponder on that quote for a while, it makes us want to be better people.  Well, it at least makes me want to be a better person.  I am so grateful for my Heavenly Father and the love that He has bestowed upon me.  I do want to become His daughter.  I am willing to give up everything for that blessing.

Christ is the Reason for the Season

What does Christ mean to you?

Christ is the reason for the season. What does He mean to you? When I think of that question words and descriptions of the Savior automatically come to me:

I feel encompassed about in a warmth of love when I think of the Savior… Do you not feel that love and warmth in your life?

I know that we can feel this warmth, peace, and love in our lives as we follow and come unto Him. He is waiting with His arms outstretched for us to come. He loves us more than we know.

What does Christ mean to you?

A phrase to help us through

I recently heard this when listening to a talk by President Thomas S. Monson, and it has helped me through many hard times:

“Seek Heavenly Guidance One Day at a Time.”

Is this what you do?  I know that it has helped me so much to follow this counsel given by a prophet of the Lord.

How I Got Through…

Recently I have been pondering how I was able to make it through severe trials and deep, consuming depression in my life.  How was I able to make it from one day to the next when all I wanted to do was die?  Or lie in my bed and do nothing?  How did I make it?  How did I get through the day, the hour, or the minute?

While I admit that I tried some things that did not really help me, there were some things I did that did help.  The things that did help me during these times brought me closer to my Savior.

I would read His words.  I would read books written by those who taught and preached of Christ.  A couple I especially liked were:  “God Wants a Powerful People” by Sheri Dew and “Standing For Something” by President Gordon B. Hinckley.  Their words comforted me and reminded me of who I could turn to for true comfort and peace.

The Savior is there for each of us.  He has felt our pains and afflictions.  I know that as I experience hard times in my life I can turn to Him and to His words to provide me with comfort, peace, and love.  Hard times do not and will not last forever.  Our Heavenly Father desires our happiness.  As we give our burdens over to the Lord we are made lighter and we are better able to live our lives.

I know that through remembering the Lord in all we do, we can come closer to Him and we can make it through our trials.  I was able to get through because of Christ.  I know that you can as well.

What do you seek?

What do you seek after in your life?  What do you wish you would seek after?

I love this song by Jenny Phillips.  I think it sheds light on this subject.  I hope you enjoy:

Scripture Study

I love this quote about scripture study by L. Tom Perry, and I wanted to share it with you:

“Personal, sincere involvement in the scriptures produces faith, hope, and solutions to our daily challenges.  Frequently reading, pondering, and applying the lessons of the scriptures, combined with prayer, become an irreplaceable part of gaining and sustaining a strong, vibrant testimony.”

I have felt this in my life and know it to be true.
