Creating new friends

So many times in our lives we feel lonely and unappreciated. It is through our friends that we often feel the love that the Savior has for us.

Many times in my life I have felt alone and forgotten. Perhaps you can relate to those feelings. I know that friends help us to feel loved and that scriptures can be a source of peace and friendship. We feel the Savior’s love through the scriptures that we read.

One of my favorite scriptures is found in the Book of Mormon in Alma 18:35:

“35 And a portion of that aSpirit dwelleth in me, which giveth me bknowledge, and also power according to my faith and desires which are in God.”

Christ’s spirit lives in us! He loves us and is a part of us every day. Do we live up to that privilege?

I know He loves us and that we can feel that love through our friends, even the scriptures.

What is Moral?

We have been told what is moral and what is not.  Listen to these words of the prophet if you doubt:

Whose side are you on?  The Lord’s or Satan’s?

Lay hold upon every good thing

Let us lay hold upon every good thing.  Let us read out of the good books, even those of the prophets.  I know that as we do this we will come closer to Christ and begin to learn of our divine identity.

A Story from the Book of Mormon

This is from the first book in the Book of Mormon: Nephi….. What do you learn about faith and keeping the commandments from this video?

Lightening Other’s burdens

Our Heavenly Father puts us in the places where we need to be when we need to be there.

The Strait and Narrow

Bruce D. Porter once said:

“To leave the strait and narrow path is to leave the one path congruent with our own eternal nature.”

I agree completely with this statement.  We are each divine sons and daughters of God.  Our bodies are a house for His spirit.  As we leave the ways of the Lord or the strait and narrow path that leads to Him and His love, we are leaving the path that is align with who we really are as sons and daughters of God.

As you watch the following clip think of the following:

The fruit of the tree=love of God

The Strait and Narrow Path=the way that leads to God

The Iron Rod=The Word of God

We truly are sons and daughters of God.  As we push through the mists of darkness and remember and stay true to who we are then we will be happy and we will feel and taste of the love of God.

What Matters Most in Life?

What is most important in your life?

Life gets so crazy sometimes that we don’t even feel like we are living sometimes.  The days, weeks, months, years fly by and we wonder what happened to all of the time that we once had.

How do we live our lives in such a way that we can focus on what truly matters most?  How did our Savior live His life?  Are we following His example?

The stages of life come and go but through it all the Lord is there for us.  He loves us and wishes for us to share that love with others.  Sometimes, we need to just slow down a little and actually allow ourselves to live.  Other times we just need to get ourselves off the couch, away from the television, unglued from the things of the world to really appreciate the things that God has placed in our lives so that we might be happy.

How do we treat those we love?  How do we treat those who we consider our enemies or those who we do not agree with?

The Savior told us to love our enemies, and bless them that curse us, and pray for them which despitefully use or persecute us.  Do you do this?  How can you improve?

How are you spending the time that you have in your life?  Would you be ready if you died tomorrow?  Why or why not?  This life is the life for men to prepare to meet God as it says in the Book of Mormon in Alma 34:32-33:

“For behold, this life is the time for men to prepare to meet God; yea, behold the day of this life is the day for men to perform their labors.

And now, as I said unto you before, as ye have had so many witnesses, therefore, I beseech of you that ye do not procrastinate the day of your repentance until the end; for after this day of life, which is given us to prepare for eternity, behold, if we do not improve our time while in this life, then cometh the night of darkness wherein there can be no labor performed.”

Let us do what we can do now to come unto our Lord; to actually live as He would have us live.  I know that as we do this we will be freed from the chains that bind us down and that we will feel lighter.  The Savior lifts us up to more than we can be.
